new leathers
« on: January 11, 2010, 09:07:53 PM »
I finally ditched the old beat-up A* suit and got myself a proper set of leathers.  New 2010 Dainese Laguna Seca; the first piece of moto gear I've ever purchased that isn't all black.  This suit actually fits me correctly, i.e. I can't breathe right when it's on haha.  It'll be a couple of weeks before I get to use it and hopefully not much longer until we're at the track so I can break it in properly!

just so there's no confusion:  ray is the one with the white Dainese Laguna Seca and the black japanese supersport 600.  i'm the one with the black Dainese Laguna Seca and the white japanese supersport 600.  don't ever confuse us again.

This actually occurred to me the other day... maybe I'll go get a black CBR just to make the whole thing complete.

Remember, rolling on the ground is part of the break in process. Preferably, not while crashing.

I clearly recall crashing in the rain AFTER rolling on the ground in my brand new WHITE suit.  Superstitious nonsense.  Still, why tempt fate?  Go ahead and have a good roll.

Finally got to ride in the thing on Sunday.  Judd and I took an impromptu ride to Santa Barbara for lunch but we avoided any twisty roads as it had poured the day before.  The suit was freaking stiff, especially in the knees.  And I underestimated how upset I would get when bugs splatter on the white leather.  It wasn't too bad but come spring time that's going to get ugly - I should probably order a gallon of leather cleaner.  Otherwise I really like it though; it's a nice step up from my old Alpinestars suit.

Haha...I think we were tempting fate that day. Taking on the big track while it was raining? We're some pretty cheap bastards...after doing this a for a few years...you'd think I'd know better than to schedule trackdays in the winter.
