2010 World Superbike season has begun!
« on: February 26, 2010, 05:04:22 PM »
Oh baby, racing season is BACK!   :thewave:

Philip Island races 1 and 2 on Speed Channel ... their website is almost as crappy as their coverage of AMA events ;)  I can't tell exactly, it's either at noon PT or 3:00 pm PT on Sunday.

Yeah baby!  The drought is OVER!

'Bout time!  It's a month until the next race but at least race season is officially starting.

btw it starts at 3:00 PM Eastern, so 12:00 PM here.

I just finished watching both races. Very exciting! Let's hope the whole year is like this.

We finally watched Race 2 last night - holy smokes, what a race and what a finish!

It's cool to see some different guys on the podium to start off the season.  I hope Laverty and Checa have good seasons!  Guintoli was right there in Race 2 until a few laps to go, he even led for several laps.

And where was Biaggi?  Isn't Roger Hayden in WSBK too?

Too bad for Vermulen falling in both races - that Race 2 crash looked brutal but I saw his video blog and he said the only injury he had was a swollen leg and knee.  Not bad for going into the tire barrier at like 150 mph!

A few thoughts:

-So refreshing to see a satellite bike win a race.  Hasn't happened in a long time.
-Kawasaki is bad.  Vermuelen looked like he pushed his bike to the limit and it couldn't keep up.
-Roger's so slow it's embarrassing.  Granted he's on a slow bike, but he looks bad.
-Looks like Yamaha will be an also-ran without Spies.  Speaks to his tremendous talent.

I can't believe I'm going to say this, but I'm a little interested in AMA for a couple of reasons:
-Edmonson got booted (health reasons my ass) and it looks like his replacement, David Atlas is actually trying.  The (pathetic) purses for the Fontana round were recently increased.
-Curious to see how Hopper does.
-Elena Myers will be doing some racing in Supersport.  Qualified 7th for this weekend's race.

That is all, please continue with your day.   :)
