:(  It's gotta be tough to sustain a business up there though.

That would be the loss of an institution.  Where's the TARP $ when it could really do some good?

That is an absolute crying shame for so many reasons.  I hope he sells it if he decides to shutter it for good.  PLEASE don't tear it down.

I can't say I blame him.  It's a niche place and a risky investment.  Quick math, if he paid nearly $600k for the place in 2001 and claims in the article to have put $1M in, even if he did pretty good with the business it's very cyclical with the winter months, and only in this past year (May!) was the road to Wrightwood reopen.  I can see the awful Station Fire being the nail in the coffin of what was a decent moneymaker.

:(

I don't understand why he would tear it down as opposed to selling it. And I can't believe they fined him for a diesel generator after they lost power...what a bunch of twats.

That would be a huge loss. That place means so much to so many people. I get a lump in my throat just thinking about Crest without Newcombs.

Check out the correction added in the article.  They issued him a violation, but did not fine him.  Reporter messed it up.
