Welcome to the SCLR Motorcycle ForumAn easy going bunch of So Cal sport riders
Just dropping in to say hello. I stumbled into this forum and all of you riders quite by accident. It's a plesant and refreshing surprize to see a group of people who enjoy riding and want to ride responsibly. Sounds like I may have finally found my kind of crowd. Cool.People who love leaning through the twisties but NOT dragging knees? People who think stunting is cool in empty parking lots away from traffic and never on city streets? That's the attitude I've hoped to find for ages. "Fun yet responsible" sounds great.
My bike is certainly not going to win any beauty contests but it runs great an i enjoy every second i get to spend on it.
Hey Christian, welcome aboard. I really like your approach. Absolutely nothing wrong with a small, used bike to learn on. I started on a used naked bike, and I'm glad I did because I dropped it twice and all I had to replace was the bar-end and brake handle (as opposed to the time when I dropped my R6 before I installed frame sliders and paid $500+ for parts). Also a used bike doesn't depreciate much so as long as it's running well you'll lose very little if you sell it. Great choice too. Very forgiving. JC here started on one of those.QuoteMy bike is certainly not going to win any beauty contests but it runs great an i enjoy every second i get to spend on it.That's all that matters. Definitely check out the first David Hough book Proficient Motorcycling if you don't have it already and have fun in your MSF class. Are you in the area? If so, you're welcome to come out on group rides when you feel comfortable, and many people here are willing to come out to where you are (if you're close enough) and coach a little if you're up for it.Cheers,Ray
